project 365: week 33
Quite a few of this week's images have also been for the #31DaysofPaper and #AugustBreak2015 daily photo projects I have been joining in with over on Instagram.
221. Trainers off after a successful Sunday morning run. As I write this, I'm wishing I had got out early this morning to do another, but I am stuck inside on this glorious day about to start some work. Hopefully by the time I put my trainers on this evening the work will be done and the evening will still be warm.
222. I posted this for the August Break prompt "talisman". This brooch belonged to my Gran, and we found it amongst her things a little while after she had died. Because of conversations we had had with her, it held a special significance, and I carry it with me whenever I want to feel particularly close to her. It was even pinned to the underskirt of my wedding dress!
223. After I baked the Great British Bake Off technical challenge last week, I came home from a run to find The Husband had not only made a delicious dinner, but he had also rustled up a madeira cake too (and cleaned the kitchen). That makes it sound like a very long run, but it really wasn't. I'm hoping this becomes a habit, as those biscotti looked lovely!
224. Wednesday night watching bake off, curled up on the bed, with a sleeping Millie and The Husband too.
225. The prompt for the 31 days of paper was "pattern" and rummaging through my supplies of wrapping paper, cards and gift bags (which has been a source of much inspiration for this project!) I came across an abundance of spots!
226. Learning to do a book fold as part of the recipe for Arlettes, this week's technical challenge, which I spent Friday night baking. More on that to come soon!
227. A slightly uninspired image, taken late last night, but I quite liked the contrast with the first image. After a day of hunting for a new car, an afternoon nap, and catching up with blogs (and not doing any of the work I needed to do) it was time for bed.

word of the week #33
It has been a lovely week, as I look back. After a Friday night spent baking (much as tonight is being spent) it was out to meet up with good friends and their baby boy for a coffee. It was a lovely way to spend the morning, and we passed several happy hours chatting over drinks, settled in comfy chairs and enjoying the bliss that is cuddles with a baby.
From there we headed to a family party on my step-dad's side. Lots of relatives who we haven't seen for ages, catching up, beautiful food, sitting in the garden in glorious sunshine. It was fabulous to spend time with them all and made for a brilliant day all in all.
Sunday was spent in the loveliest of ways, a spa day with my mum. There were facials, dressing gowns, slippers, back massages, hair masks and a delicious lunch in the middle. It was great to spend a day together, with endless conversation and coming away feeling pampered and relaxed.
After a late afternoon cleaning, in a spa-induced daze, I must admit, a good friend got in touch to announce that she was home for the night and inviting us to a pub quiz. I can't claim to have heard many of the questions, or to have had much contribution to our second place result, as there was far too much to talk about. We have been friends since school and have one of those relationships where, despite the distance now, whenever we do meet up it is like we've never been away. It was a wonderfully unexpected surprise to see her and a great way to round off the weekend.
This week has been the first full week in the new job. I have really noticed the difference starting somewhere where I already know people. A few people I've worked with before have started here at the same time, and it has been great to be reunited with them. Having people you already know to eat lunch with and navigate a new workplace with has made the transition much easier.
Our evenings this week have included visits from grandad, my parents, and a friend. I popped into a few neighbours with last week's cake leftovers too. It has made me very happy, feeling so closely surrounded by lots of friends and family.
I hope you have all had a happy week too.
